2025: A Round Up

1–2 minutes

2025 was a very busy bunny year for us at the Rabbit Residence Rescue.

We managed to rehome an amazing 109 rabbits, this included long termers Gem and Silver who had been in our care for three years. They have now gone to live in a trio with their new pal Wiggy as spoiled house rabbits.

Sadly we took in more rabbits, 124 buns came into our care in 2025. This includes our Reindeer Bunnies, who arrived with us after being rescued from cramped conditions in a neglected hutch. At the end of the year we still had 56 rabbits on our waiting list awaiting a space to come into the rescue.

When you care for rescue rabbits there is inevitably going to be some very sad goodbyes. We had to say goodnight to a few of our much loved bunnies in 2025.

Darcy, one of our sponsor bunnies, peacefully crossed over the rainbow bridge in December. She was our oldest resident and had been on palliative care due to a tumour in her chest. The rescue feels very strange without her there.

Another sponsor bun, Minstrels, was helped over the rainbow bridge in November. He had numerous health issues and, as a senior bun, had begun to spiral downhill. He is very much missed.

We had to make the difficult decision that for Dita who had been in our care for three years. She had been struggling with a nasty infection for months and the bacteria had become resistant to every antibiotic we tried. She had been rescued three and a half years ago from a meat farm along with 200 other rabbits. We hope that her life here with us made her happy and helped her forget where she had come from.

We continue into 2026 with many new fluffy faces to care for and hope to find even more bunnies their new homes this year.
